“Solstice” is all of my favorite things in one body butter. I started by infusing grass grazed tallow with freshly homegrown and wildcrafted flowering St. John’s Wort tops, homegrown Comfrey leaf, and homegrown and wildcrafted flowering California Mugwort—which has an amazing fragrance (if you are unfamiliar with it). I created this on the summer solstice, which is generally when both St. John’s Wort and Mugwort are flowering. The solstice is also the longest day of light and is a special day of the year.
I wanted to add Shea Butter to this formula —because my skin which is exposed to the sun regularly, craves a little bit of added nourishment. I find that the tallow and the shea butter work really well together to deeply nourish tissue. They are also both super vitamin-rich.
Comfrey was a must for this butter as well, as it binds skin back together and helps with skin elasticity. The St. John’s Wort relieves muscle soreness and nerve pain, and also protects against sun damage on a cellular level.
Utilizing Cali Mugwort allows me to not use any essential oils— but to give this butter a beautiful NATURAL fragrance that makes it an absolute delight to work with.
All of these elements working together created SOLSTICE. I did not whip this body butter, but rather poured it hot into individual jars and let it set. The result is a super rich, super thick product. Use it anywhere— even your face. A little will go a long way.
Makes an EXCELLENT sunning butter OR massage butter.
I’m also offering a variety of sizes. You can choose your size. All of these jars come with traditional mason top lids to prevent any leaking or spilling in shipping during these hottest summer months. Some of my larger sizes are in swing-top jars with a rubber ring lid liner. If your package is left in a hot mailbox, simply put your body butter in the refrigerator for a few hours and then let it return to room temperature and it will be fine. This body butter was meant for summer.
However, I will be using this all year round as its benefits are numerable. If I could only make one body butter for the rest of my life, this would be it. I hope you all love this offering as much as I have loved creating it!
