I’m into sun exposure and all things natural.  I LOVE applying St. John’s Wort oil when I’m either laying out in the sun or working in the garden in a bikini— trying to stack functions and get sun (vitamin D) WHILE I work.

Last spring I made an infused oil made of truly exquisite California Lilac flowers. Their bloom was exceptionally beautiful. Their aroma is not like the lilacs you may be thinking of.  The Ceanothus varieties that grow where I live in the mountains of Northern California have their own unique fragrance.  The best way that I can describe them is “ a sweet vanilla rootbeer or a cream soda”. They are delicate and intoxicating.

I used to choose specific plants to achieve specific scents for many of my creations (as I do not ever use bottled essential oils), but sometimes I’ll infuse lesser known plants or flowers that have skin-benefitting properties AND an amazing fragrance, and just let their aroma speak for itself.  This was one of those instances. I’ve already been making root medicine with Ceanothus, but this time I took advantage of their abundant, striking spring blooms and made several infused oils.

To make Rootbeer Float, I infused fresh Ceanothus blossoms in organic cold-pressed olive oil, and I combined it with my super-potent St. John’s Wort oil which is ALWAYS made from freshly wilted wildcrafted and homegrown Hypericum perforatum.

The result was outstanding as it created an herbal body oil that is not only completely naturally scented, but protective to the skin, sustainable, unique, and wonderful to use.

Now that the sun is on its way back, I have been applying this herbal oil all over—before, during, and after sun-exposure.  I adore utilizing flowers that are not only unique to my local landscape, but also such a fun throwback fragrance that reminds me of a rootbeer float.

This offering is a super-small limited batch exclusive for spring and will be available until it sells out— which it will.  I won’t be able to offer more until next year.

Each bottle is 4 oz, and comes in a easy to squirt-on bottle for quick application.  Store the bottle in a cool dark place indoors and this oil should last you all season.

St. John’s Wort oil is also SPECIFIC for easing muscle and nerve pain, which makes it an excellent choice for spring time gardening and summer activities, and even massage!

This oil is safe and gentle enough for all skin types, and all ages.  Use common sense when exposing skin to the sun and cover up when skin starts to give you signs that it’s had enough.  A solar callus is not built in a day.  Happy sunning!  Hope you love this one as much as I do!
